George Michael Confirmed For Mardi Gras
News article, 5th March, 2010
George Michael has been confirmed for the Mardi Gras Party this Saturday. His appearance was announced in a Sydney newspaper today. They have said that he will do the 5am show, however we can confirm that this is not correct.
This year, Mardi Gras have been sticking to their new policy of not announcing Party talent. However, the rumour mill has been in overdrive since last weekend, when George Michael made an appearance at Parade Root, DJ Seymour Butz’s Parade event at the Oxford Hotel. As it turns out George allegedly told a few punters that he’d be performing at the Party, and we all know how effective the gay grapevine can be.
A source at Mardi Gras has said that this year, due to the Parade and Party split, the organisation has very much over-compensated, and partygoers can expect one of the most lavish Mardi Gras parties we’ve seen in years. With a line up including Kelly Rowland, David Guetta, American Idol star Adam Lambert and George Michael, it looks like they’re right. Amanda Lepore also let it slip last night at the Same Same Mardi Bar that she would also be peforming at the Mardi Gras Party on Saturday.
Meanwhile, anyone still holding a candle for a Whitney Houston party show should probably extinguish it already. She will be performing at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre on March 6.
