HER brother Rex may have hit the headlines last year as the youngest Australian to scale the Seven Summits, but Caroline Pemberton can now claim a crowning glory of her own -- she's the new Miss World Australia 2007.
The St Ives university student was chosen from 19 other finalists at last night's gala ceremony, where reigning beauty queen Sabrina Houssami handed over her tiara to the 2007 winner.
Caroline Pemberton, 20, impressed the pageant's 12 judges with her charity work which included an international role as a UNICEF ambassador and a recent trip to East Timor with Father Chris Riley's Youth Off the Streets.
Pemberton, who also works as a part-time business analyst, had the figure to take second prize in the swimsuit, evening gown and talent sections of the contest. She will represent Australia at this year's Miss World pageant in China in September.
The Victorians also placed well with concert pianist Alexandra Bastien awarded the Talent Award, Miss Victoria Rian Uygun, the Beauty with a Purpose Award and Michelle Bourke, the fitness award.
Western Australian Jessica Godulski was awarded first runner up and the Beach Beauty Award as the Ambassador for a healthy body image.
Sydney Wildcard Nicola Wall and Billabong Pro-Surfer were also awarded modelling contracts as the 2007 Faces of sponsor swimwear Designers MaraJoara.
